The development of the Fashion and Textiles portfolio of QCF qualifications was led by the Sector Skills Council. As a key member of the qualifications and standards team I worked closely with various Awarding Bodies, writing QCF units, assessment criteria and indicative content. I am now an External Moderator for one of the key Awarding Bodies that service the sector, ABC Awards.
This involves moderation visits to numerous centers that deliver the qualifications. One of the centers is HMP Lowdham Grange. This centre required advisory visits to help and support the potential delivery of the Level 2 Certificate in Manufacture Sewn Products and/or the Level 2 Certificate in Manufacture Textiles Products to inmates, with a view to develop a productive and profitable sewing workshop with accredited qualifications at its heart
The project required advice relating to assessor development and qualifications, internal verification procedures and guidance with identifying the most appropriate pathway to progress skills and support production.
